Willow Tree Montessori’s Enrichment Programs
Enriching the lives of the children is what we do here at WTM.
Fall Program Offerings:
New Haven Ballet
Students are offered the unique opportunity of attending weekly instruction with Tim Fountain, the Children's Program Director of the New Haven Ballet. He has an innate ability to support the child in their exploration of creativity and movement. The ballet class (our 4 - 6 year olds) provides in-depth opportunities for a classical approach while maintaining an element of fun, movement, and language instruction.
Art Enrichment PrograM
With Ms. Lodi
Small groups within the Casa environment are gathered for discussions encompassing a variety of aspects within Fine Art. During these sessions, the children explore the Color Wheel, Tints and Shades, Mono-prints, and given the opportunity to have self-expression through Self-Portraits, Portraits, Still Life, and the freedom with boundaries of Modern Art (action and movement focused). These lessons aim to increase their self-awareness, explore color, challenge dimension, and increase the degrees of control with hand-eye coordination. The Art Enrichment here at Willow Tree Montessori, improves concentration and allows for creativity to bloom.
Winter Program Offerings
Library Enrichment Program
with Mrs. Cable
Our Library Enrichment program provides children an introduction to Library ethics. The Library is filled with all types of genres for the children to choose from and each child has access to developmental appropriate materials. During the Library Enrichment program, Mrs. Cable engages the children by reading stories, poems, and other literature. The Library is a place where children can continue their love of reading, expand their knowledge with research and fulfill their need for absorbing new information.
Spring Program Offerings
Violin with Ms. Lane
In supporting the development of the whole child, cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically, Willow Tree Montessori provides children in the Casa environment a music enrichment opportunity that strengthen concentration, memory, and a sense of order through rhythm and repetition, while also refining fine and gross motor skills needed for practical life and writing.
Through songs, pitch and rhythm lessons weekly, the child will enhance their language development, phonemic awareness, and later pronunciation, which is especially beneficial in diverse or multilingual environments. Our trained music teacher, Mrs. Lane, will respond to the child’s sensitive periods for sound and movement, encourage emotional expression along with providing violin lessons as the child progresses through the enrichment program.
